Musician’s Biography:
Toronto Born, Larnell Lewis learned to play the drums in church at a young age. Though his origins are in gospel music through his performances in his youth as a church drummer, Larnell Lewis has become one of the most versatile drummers around.
His profound knowledge of music and his ability as a drummer has led Larnell to opportunities performing with Snarky Puppy, Lalah Hathaway, Lisa Fischer, Molly Johnson and many others. Larnell Lewis is also a part time professor at Humber College and works as a musician, composer, producer, clinician and educator.
Larnell has studied electric bass guitar and developed his skills on piano, which has allowed him to become a prominent songwriter and producer. In 2004, Larnell was awareded the Oscar Peterson Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music. If you get a chance to see Larnell Lewis perform we highly recommend it.
