Musician’s Biography:
Known mostly from his Grammy Award winning song writing, drumming and producing with the popular jazz fusion band, Snarky Puppy, Robert “Sput” Searight is anything but an ordinary drummer.
Robert Searight, known by many simply as Sput, came up in the music scene of Dallas Texas in the halls of the world famous Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts with fellow artists that included Norah Jones, Roy Hargrove and Erykah Badu, to name a few.
Sput’s ability to hear music with a producers ear, while also performing as a drummer has set him apart from many of his contemporaries. This ability was applied at a young age as he set out to change the face of Gospel music with his Gospel group, God’s Property. With his ambition at the young age of 18 years old, he won a grammy.
Since then, he has stacked up Grammy Awards and extended his music family and his music ventures, working alongside artists including Snoop Dogg and Justin Timberlake as both a producer and drummer as well as touring with his new and recently Grammy nominated band, Ghost Note.
