Why We Exist
We’re the #1 Source for Music News, Gear Reviews, Lessons and more.
We’re not just another gear review site—we’re a community built by musicians, for musicians and music lovers.
Whether you’re a beginner searching for your first instrument, a seasoned musician, or just have an interest in music, we’ve got you covered with expert insights and real-world experience.
For every review, guide, lesson, and news article we publish, we tap into the musical expertise of our contributors, our genuine love of music and our desire to inspire your next great performance.
We’re dedicated to providing the most accurate, unbiased reviews of gear, albums, and everything music-related.
No brand sponsorships or industry influence here—just honest, transparent information from real musicians who know the game.
We also fight for artist rights and aim to build a space that connects musicians of all levels, empowering them to succeed.
With fake reviews flooding the internet and platforms that fail to properly support musicians, it’s tough to know who to trust. That’s where we come in.
Our mission? To help artists thrive in a world where the balance between commerce and art has become skewed.
We stand against the broken system that makes it hard for musicians to make a living doing what they love. Here, the artist always comes first.
From those just starting in their garages to seasoned professionals hitting the main stage, we’re here for every step of the journey.
The journey of every artist matters. Let’s build a better music industry together—one where musicians thrive.
We believe in being open and honest in everything we do, whether it’s in our reviews, our interactions with the community, or within our team.
We communicate clearly, set realistic expectations, and always provide full disclosure.
We don’t BS when it comes to music.
We’ve been musicians our whole lives and have worked with other musicians on tours so we’re very familiar with the industry, how it works, and who says what.
All the information and data we provide is accurate and honest.
We want this community to be a home base for musicians of all levels and walks of life.
We are here to connect, teach, and learn.
We want to help all musicians and artists succeed.
Who We Are
We are musicians, journalists, music lovers, futurists, philosophers, artists and activists.
We come from different backgrounds and are a collection of very different experiences.
Where we come together is our drive to create meaningful change in our industry.
We LOVE what we do and we think we’re pretty damn good at it. We live and die by our core values.
We don’t want to create more internet fodder.
We want to create things online that actually help people and make a difference in their lives and our world.
Our Leadership
Rex Freiberger
Founder & Editor-In-Chief
Rex is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Music Minds, where he shapes the editorial vision and content calendar to bring musicians and music lovers the insights they need.
He created the world’s most accurate album review rating system and developed the True Score and Trust Rating on Gadget Review—game-changing systems that redefine how to measure product quality.
In his 20s, he taught at Assumption University in Thailand before diving into entrepreneurship. After a few failed startups, he found his stride in SEO and digital media. His first big win came with Highly Relevant, a company he founded and later sold to Wpromote in 2014.
Today, he runs a media group that attracts millions of visitors every month, which is now branching out into politics and entertainment to connect with an even wider audience.
He’s also a creative producer, actor, publisher, advisor, and entrepreneur.
Christen Da Costa
CEO
As CEO of Music Minds, Christen manages the day-to-day operations and ensures the site consistently delivers exceptional content to its audience. He also plays a key role in shaping the platform’s future, streamlining efforts across content, SEO, development, and more.
Originally from a Boston suburb, he eventually moved west—and never looked back. Sunshine, beaches, and warm weather were too tempting after growing up in the cold.
An avid traveler, he’s explored new places, developed a love for sushi thanks to his wife, and enjoys a good hack-and-slash game on the PlayStation.
With years of experience building on the web, his passion for innovation and creativity continues to drive his work forward.
