Global superstar Shakira‘s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” faces another setback as her February 24 concert in Medellín, Colombia has been postponed due to structural damage to the stage roof. The announcement marks the second tour delay following last week’s Lima show cancellation due to the singer’s health issues.
Event organizer Páramo Presenta discovered the safety risk during setup at Estadio Atanasio Girardot, prompting immediate action to protect both artist and audience. “During the process of setting up the show, the stage roof installed by the local production company suffered damage that put the artist’s safety at risk,” the company stated.
Shakira addressed fans directly through social media: “My people of Medellín! It hurts me a lot not to be able to go on stage and sing for you with the desire that I had. My children were excited to visit Medellín, and I was excited to meet you again.”
To accommodate affected travelers, Avianca Airlines announced they would allow flight changes without penalties for ticket holders, offering a 90-day window to reschedule within their ticket validity.
The tour, which launched in Rio de Janeiro earlier this month following Shakira’s Grammy win for Best Latin Pop Album, is scheduled to continue with back-to-back shows in Bogotá on February 26 and 27.
