Calling all Prince fans! You now have the chance to stay at the iconic house from the film “Purple Rain” on Airbnb. Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, Prince’s former bandmates in The Revolution and co-stars in the movie, are hosting this exclusive experience to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary album and film.
The house, located at 3420 Snelling Avenue South in Minneapolis, has been meticulously restored to transport you back to the world of The Kid. From the purple velvet wallpaper to the vintage 80s stereo preloaded with Prince’s inspirations, every detail has been carefully curated.
Immerse yourself in the “When Doves Cry” spa area, complete with a claw-foot tub and lavender bath bombs. Marvel at Prince’s most legendary outfits displayed behind glass, and play dress-up with the 80s-inspired accessories provided. Step into The Kid’s bedroom decked out just like in the film, and explore Prince’s personal tape collection.
But this Airbnb isn’t just a static museum experience. In the Muse Lounge, you can jam along with pre-recorded audio of Prince himself. Scan QR codes throughout the house for intimate commentary from Wendy & Lisa, Stereogum reports. And if you’re lucky, you might just discover the hidden room filled with treasures and clues leading to special rewards.
“Prince was a creative genius who impacted so many through his art and his spirit,” said Wendy & Lisa. “This restoration reflects the eclectic world he created and aims to make visitors feel a deeper connection to him as an artist and person.”
Rolling Stone says that only 25 one-night stays are available from October 26 to December 14, so mark your calendars. Booking requests will be accepted from October 2-6, and each stay is priced at $7 per person in honor of Prince’s favorite number.
