30 Aug Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Bring Industrial Edge to ‘Tron: Ares’ Soundtrack
In a thrilling announcement at the D23 fan event, it was revealed that the iconic industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails will be scoring the upcoming film ‘Tron: Ares,’ set for release in October 2025 as reported by Rolling Stone. This marks a significant shift in the franchise’s musical direction and has fans eagerly anticipating the band’s unique take on the Tron universe.
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the masterminds behind Nine Inch Nails, have established themselves as prolific film composers over the past decade. According to pitchfork, the duo has scored more than a dozen films, including the critically acclaimed ‘The Social Network,’ ‘Soul,’ and the recently released ‘Challengers.’ However, ‘Tron: Ares’ will be the first score attributed to Nine Inch Nails as a band, adding an extra layer of excitement for fans.
As Spin pointed out, the previous Tron film, ‘Tron: Legacy’ (2010), featured an iconic score by the electronic duo Daft Punk. Their breakup in 2021 sent shockwaves through the music industry, leaving many wondering who would take up the mantle for the next installment. With Nine Inch Nails stepping in, fans can expect a darker, more industrial sound that will bring a fresh dimension to the Tron franchise.
In addition to the score, Nine Inch Nails will be creating new original songs for ‘Tron: Ares.’ This announcement comes on the heels of the band’s last releases, ‘Ghosts V: Together’ and ‘Ghosts VI: Locusts (2020), which showcased their ability to craft immersive, atmospheric soundscapes. The anticipation for new music from the band is palpable, and the Tron: Ares soundtrack promises to deliver.
