When you think of best vocal mics, the obvious and trusted brands are Shure and Sennheiser and for good reason. They have been making great microphones for a long time. A lesser known brand in the mass market but one that is coming on strong in the world of professional musicians, for best studio equipment, is Telefunken. Several of my favorite vocalists not only swear by their Telefunken M80 Microphone, but almost all of the musicians I know that use this microphone go through the trouble of traveling with their own mic, even when venues provide fairly decent microphones. If that doesn’t say something, I don’t know what does.
FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this in a studio?
Absolutely! This mic is clear and crisp with great low end clarity and no noticeable mid/high feedback. This mic has been amazing for me and my vocalists in both studio and live settings. I’ve also gotten great tones with this mic on amps and even as on overhead on a drumset.
Is there a USB connection for this microphone?
You will need an interface to connect this microphone to a computer as is the case for just about any microphone worthy of using in a studio.
Telefunken is an American company that produces quality products and is very involved in the music community and works with several musicians that I perform with on a regular basis. I have met some of the reps and have had nothing but a great experience with them as people and using their mics in my studio and in live settings. If money is a huge concern there are some comparable mics that are a bit cheaper, but for the versatility and clarity of this microphone, I think it’s worth every penny.
