Experimental rock band Deerhoof has announced the release of their 20th studio album, Noble and Godlike in Ruin, set to drop on April 25, 2025, via Joyful Noise Recordings. Alongside the announcement, the band has shared the album’s lead single, “Immigrant Songs,” in an unconventional way—through Craigslist ads.
The single debuted exclusively on Craigslist two days before its official release on streaming platforms. Deerhoof posted “Services” ads in cities like Brooklyn, Tucson, Portland, and Minneapolis, directing fans to a secure link to hear the track. The listings also featured the album’s artwork and pre-order options. In a statement, the band explained their decision to use Craigslist as a platform that “isn’t blatantly supporting fascism.”
“Immigrant Songs” is described as a quirky yet melodic track that builds into a chaotic and energetic conclusion. According to drummer Greg Saunier, the song is a thematic sequel to “Exit Only,” touching on immigration struggles and critiquing societal attitudes toward immigrants. “There’s a sector of racialized, underpaid immigrants doing labor white people won’t, who are getting deported and dehumanized in record numbers,” Saunier said. “They’re really the glue keeping our society from collapsing.”
Noble and Godlike in Ruin will feature 10 tracks, including previously released singles “Overrated Species Anyhow” and “Sparrow Sparrow.” The album was self-produced by the band and includes a guest appearance by Saul Williams on the track “Under Rats.”
To support the album’s release, Deerhoof has announced an extensive 2025 tour spanning North America, the UK, and Europe. The tour kicks off on May 1 in Minneapolis at The Walker Arts Center and includes stops in major cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, London, and Stockholm. Highlights include two-night performances in Toronto and London.
Tickets for the tour are now available through official ticketing platforms. Fans can expect Deerhoof’s signature blend of experimental rock and high-energy performances.
