You won’t be hearing “Can’t Fight This Feeling” live anymore. REO Speedwagon, the legendary rock band behind hits like “Keep on Loving You” and “Take It on the Run,” has announced they will stop touring after December 31, 2024. The decision comes due to “irreconcilable differences” between bassist Bruce Hall and lead singer Kevin Cronin, according to the band’s official statement.
Variety reports that the trouble started last November when Hall had back surgery. Matt Bissonette stepped in as touring bassist while Hall recovered. But the band felt Hall hadn’t bounced back enough to rock out at their usual high level. Hall appreciated the band’s opinion and was thankful for Bissonette’s help during the summer shows.
Despite the announcement, Foxnews reports that REO Speedwagon will finish their last 19 concerts. The final tour kicks off September 27 in Rancho Mirage, California and wraps up November 23 in Lexington, Kentucky.
Formed in 1967, the band still includes original member Neal Doughty. Along with Cronin, Hall, Dave Amato, Bryan Hitt, and touring keyboardist Derek Hilland, they’ve made a huge mark on rock. Albums like “Hi Infidelity” sold 10 million copies in the U.S. alone.
Both Hall and Cronin said they never planned to quit the band. They’re grateful for the fans and crew who have supported them over the years. KTLA details the band posted an official statement on social media explaining their tough choice and thanking fans for the incredible memories they’ve shared.
