Cultural Impact Grows: Hypebot reports that since its 2008 inception, when Metallica launched the inaugural event at San Francisco’s Rasputin Music, Record Store Day has evolved from a grassroots initiative into a global phenomenon. The celebration now spans multiple continents, with participating stores in the UK, Canada, Japan, and Australia.
Community Focus Maintained: “Independent record stores remain cultural hubs where music discovery happens organically,” explains Record Store Day co-founder Michael Kurtz. “These shops continue to foster connections between artists and fans while preserving the physical music experience.”
