Neil Young and Stephen Stills Reunite for Harvest Moon Charity Concert

Rock legends Neil Young and Stephen Stills are set to reunite on stage for the upcoming Harvest Moon: A Gathering charity concert on October 5, 2024. The event, to be held at the Painted Turtle camp in Lake Hughes, California, will benefit both the Bridge School and the Painted Turtle, two organizations dedicated to supporting children with severe medical conditions and physical impediments.

Young and Stills, who first performed together as part of the iconic band Buffalo Springfield in 1966, have a long history of collaborating for charitable causes. The duo, along with David Crosby and Graham Nash, formed the supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, producing the groundbreaking album “Déjà Vu” and delivering a memorable performance at Woodstock in 1969.

The Harvest Moon concert, first held in 2019, aims to continue the legacy of the Bridge School Benefit Concert, which Young hosted for 30 years from 1986 to 2016 as reported by Rolling Stone. The inaugural event featured performances by singer-songwriter Norah Jones, indie folk artist Father John Misty, and world music ensemble Masanga.

April Tani, executive director of the Painted Turtle, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming event, stating, “We are thrilled to have Neil and Stephen headline this year’s Harvest Moon concert. Their commitment to supporting children in need is truly inspiring, and we look forward to an unforgettable evening of music and community.”

General admission tickets for the Harvest Moon: A Gathering will start at $275 and go on sale September 6, 2024, via AXS. Additional artists are expected to be announced in the coming months.

Earlier this year, Young was forced to cancel his tour with Crazy Horse due to an undisclosed illness, as Pitchfork and SFchronicle point out. However, he is scheduled to make his return to the stage at Farm Aid on September 21, 2024, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The Harvest Moon concert in October will mark another milestone in Young’s ongoing commitment to supporting children’s charities, with the potential for the event to become an annual tradition.
