In The Spotlight: The Alternative Music Hall of Fame™ (The Alt Hall™) has officially launched, inviting music enthusiasts to help select its first class of inductees from Depeche Mode to Pearl Jam. The organization aims to honor legendary artists across multiple alternative subgenres, with fan voting open through the month of December, 2024.
Comprehensive Recognition System: The Hall’s voting criteria emphasize artistic merit over commercial success, evaluating nominees based on talent (25%), creativity (25%), impact (25%), and influence within the alternative music community (25%). Artists must have contributed at least 20 years to alternative music to be eligible.

Genre-Spanning Initiative: The organization recognizes diverse subgenres, including punk, new wave, goth, ska, grunge, and Britpop. “Mainstream media has been slow to accept the impact that genres such as punk, new wave, goth, and ska have had on music,” notes Richard Blade, legendary KROQ-FM DJ, and upcoming Hollywood Walk of Fame inductee.
Industry Support Grows: The initiative has garnered support from influential figures in alternative music. Blade will host the inaugural induction ceremony in Los Angeles in March 2025, where the first class of honorees will be revealed.
