England’s loudest band is turning it up to infinity this fall as “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues” has officially secured a September 12, 2025 theatrical release date. Bleecker Street announced the long-awaited sequel to the 1984 cult classic mockumentary with a teaser trailer that pays homage to one of the original film’s most iconic moments.

The 30-second teaser shows a hand turning an amplifier knob past the legendary “11” setting (a reference to Nigel Tufnel’s famous line from the original) all the way to “infinity,” followed by the band’s song “Stonehenge” playing as the screen fades to black. The tagline reads: “This time, we’re going beyond 11.”

Original cast members Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel), Michael McKean (David St. Hubbins), and Harry Shearer (Derek Smalls) are all returning, with Rob Reiner once again directing and reprising his role as documentarian Marty DiBergi. The film follows the fictional heavy metal band as they reunite after a 15-year hiatus for one final concert.

“We’re so happy to be working with the folks at Bleecker Street who are passionate about keeping Tap’s legacy alive and happy to give Marty DiBergi another shot at relevancy,” Reiner said in a statement.

The sequel boasts an impressive lineup of musical cameos, including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Garth Brooks, and Trisha Yearwood. Fran Drescher will also return as record executive Bobbi Flekman from the original film.

According to earlier reports, the plot was inspired by the death of Tony Hendra, who played the band’s manager Ian Faith in the original film. The story involves Ian’s widow inheriting a contract that requires Spinal Tap to perform one more concert.

In preparation for the sequel’s release, Bleecker Street will also distribute a newly restored version of the original “This Is Spinal Tap” in theaters this summer before making it available on digital and streaming platforms.
