The portability of these Bass Ukulele is a very convenient feature. The light wood design varies depending on if you go with the UKBE-23 which is made with a mahogany body or the UKBE-24 which is made with a swamp ash body.
For improved tuning control, Hadean went with Aquila Nylgut strings as they absorb less moisture than the traditional polyurethane strings. A slight bonus, however many of the polyurethane strings are solid as well and do a good job staying in tune.
The Hadean Acoustic Electric U-Bass is a quality instrument. This particular Ukulele Bass is one of the more affordable Ukulele bass guitars that are of a decent quality.
AS AN ACOUSTIC U-BASS, both the swamp ash wood and the mahogany wood have nice natural resonance and reverb.
AS AN ELECTRIC U-BASS, the addition of controls for volume and eq of the bass, mid and treble makes this bass uke a joy to play.
THE AQUILA NYLGUT STRINGS are both easy to play and do a good job of keeping a solid fret intonation. The tuning stability is especially accurate from the 1st to the 12th fret.
THE BUILT-IN TUNER has an LCD display and makes it easy to keep the bass ukulele in tune. It is a chromatic tuner and allows you to tune the bass ukulele the same as a full size bass guitar.
The strings are tuned to E-A-D-G which is standard for bass guitar.
FAQ:
How does it compare to the Kala U-Bass?
The Kala U-Bass has a slightly more refined sound and is probably why it costs more.
Is there a big difference in tone between the Swamp Ash and the Mahogany wood?
If you have a backpack that can fit it. lol. It can fit into a large backpack or you can get a small case for it. For most backpacks it would be big as it is a contrabass ukulele. If you need something smaller, there are smaller options for U-Bass.
Does it stay in tune?
Yes! This is a well built bass ukulele. It does a great job of staying in tune and I haven’t heard many issues about string buzz. I mean, any guitar can come out of tune, so it’s not permanently tuned, but it’s solid.
