The Fender Guitar may be one of the most prolific guitar brands of all time throughout the entire world and today, the brand includes a variety of stringed instruments and amplifiers.

In 1950, this American guitar manufacturer introduced the worlds first mass produced Spanish style solid body electric guitar. The Fender Broadcaster (which later became known as the Fender Telecaster and is still known as the Fender Telecaster today) was a huge success and inspired the Fender to forge ahead with a multitude of prolific stringed instruments that vary even from other well-known brands like Gibson.

The Fender Precision bass, otherwise known as the Fender P Bass, became the first electric bass guitar set for mass production. What came of that was another huge success for Fender. The Fender Precision Bass became the sound of Motown Records as it was the bass of choice for James Jamerson, the bassist that performed on nearly every Motown hit throughout the 1960s and early 1970s.

On the heels of the Fender P Bass came the Fender Jazz Bass, which again was a success, further cementing Fender as a larger than life guitar brand. The Fender Jazz Bass was made none more famous than by legendary bassist, Jaco Pastorius. Jaco Pastorius famously removed the frets from a 1962 Fender Jazz Bass and created what he called “The Bass Of Doom”

The incredible fretless bass tone made famous by Jaco Pastorius is only one dimension of the Fender Jazz Bass. With the nice bright tone, jazz, funk, rock bass players and more have flocked to this bass.

The next huge success for Fender came in the form of the Fender Stratocaster. The look and sound of the electric solid body guitar was enough to make the Fender Stratocaster a hit. Paired with a brilliant marketing effort by Fender, the Fender Stratocaster became part of the image of a generation.

With Jimi Hendrix playing his Stratocaster with his teeth and The Beach Boys making the Stratocaster every bit as much as the California culture as surfboards, the success of the Fender Stratocaster is something that has few if any rivals.

The Fender Brand is as strong today as ever, with not only great electric guitars and electric bass guitars, but reputable Fender amplifiers and a line of acoustic guitars, acoustic bass guitars, ukuleles, classical guitars, effects pedals, in ear monitors and more.

Amazingly the strength of the brand has opened the door to Fender becoming a lifestyle brand with a popular clothing line. In many ways the Fender brand is larger than life.
