Adam’s Take

Takamine wasn’t always on my radar as it doesn’t have the same brand recognition as companies like Gibson, Martin, Fender and the like, but once you know Takamine, you understand the tremendous value the brand has in both their prices and the quality of their guitars.

The Takamine EF381SC is an excellent, top of the line 12 string guitar that uses spruce and maple to create a tone that is full and rich.  The dreadnought body amplifies naturally and the cedar top helps make the guitar as versatile as it is artistically finished. Be sure to learn how to play a 12 string guitar once you have the model.

The electronics in this 12 string guitar help make it a performance ready guitar with a reputable CT4BII preamp with a 3 band EQ and volume control.  The built in tuner is accurate and easy to use as well. If you find this guitar sits a bit outside of your price range but still want a quality pick, consider the best acoustic under 1500 as well. Plus there are still quality guitars that sit further under that price range as well. Some models are even under $200 that can still get the job done and last for years, like the guitar in our Epiphone Pro 1 review. Once you find a model you love, you can learn all about the guitar playing tips out there, like how to deal with guitar feedback.
