This is a sweet little U-Bass.  It has a strong look and sound, the electronics are good, it’s small enough to travel with and it’s a Kala instrument.

The Kala Rumbler looks and sounds great, so we’ve reviewed it for our overall study of best bass ukuleles.  It’s got a look that stands out with its sating finish on the mahogany wood.  The combinations of walnut on the fretboard and mahogany on the neck and body make for a great sound and look.

  • Mahogany back and sides
  • Laminate finish
  • Custom Die-Cast Tuners
  • Kala Silver Rumbler Strings
  • Kala custom active EQ
  • Built-in tuner
  • Meets most airline carry-on requirements

The finish distinguishes the look of this from other models that also use mahogany.  It is a feature that also contrasts nicely with the custom die cast tuners.

As a highly convenient travel ukulele, this U-Bass delivers with its sound which is helped by the built in shadow pickup and EQ.  The Silver Rumbler strings sound great on this bass and do a good job of holding tune.

This short scale electric-acoustic ukulele bass is perfect for traveling and looks great for a stage.

Kala Rumbler U-Bass

The Kala Rumbler is a sweet U-Bass.  The natural satin finish on the Mahogany wood looks exceptional. The Mahogany neck and walnut fretboard enhance the already elegant look of the mahogany body.

This short scale electric-acoustic ukulele bass is perfect for traveling and looks great for a stage.

The built-in tuner is solid as Kala continues to put out solid instruments.  While this is one of the more affordable ukuleles in Kala’s arsenal of U-Basses, it certainly didn’t lose any of the punch you can expect from a Kala Ukulele Bass.

The shadow pickup and EQ really help boost the tone when using the Rumbler in an electric setting.  Even if you are unplugged the tone is great.

The Silver Rumblers are awesome too.

  • Custom Die Cast Tuners are a nice touch on this model.
  • The Kala Silver Rumbler Strings are solid bass ukulele strings.
  • Takes a little time to get the feel of the strings if you are not used to ukulele strings.
