Alesis DM10 Electronic Drumkit Review

Alesis DM10 MKII Studio Kit Electronic Drum Set

With any some of the best electronic drums, having good responsive pads that feel good to play with a module that can provide excellent drum tones is the priority, especially if you are using the electronic Drumset for performances or studio work.  The Alesis DM10 MKII Studio Kit Electronic Drumset delivers on both fronts.

With their black mesh drum pads, the Alesis DM10 can stand toe to toe with even the great Roland TD series electronic drumsets for feel, attack and responsiveness which is quite impressive.  With a solid bank of drumsets and hundred of additional tones, the module delivers a lot, especially for the relatively low price of this electronic Drumset.

With MIDI capabilities, the world of sounds are available for programming any of the drum pads and with both a USB connection and the traditional 5 pin MIDI connection, the Alesis DM10 Electronic Drumkit is easy to use and program for any situation.

The mesh heads on the Alesis DM10 electronic Drumset are very solid, offering quiet attack with great bounce and real time trigger responses.  And the combination of the black mesh heads with the chrome rack provides a great look for any stage or studio.  The rack system is especially sturdy and folds up nicely for the touring drummer that wants to have the electronic Drumset on the road.

The DM10 Electronic Drumset module is very solid and offers great sounds and is easy to use.  At the price point of this Drumset, it is an absolute steal and provides opportunities for all levels of drummers to own a great electronic Drumset.

While it is not technically an electronic Drumset for beginners, I would highly suggest beginners consider this Drumset as it has professional capabilities that any touring drummer would love but it’s priced in a way that anyone could afford it.  The beauty of having an electronic Drumset for beginners is that it provides inspiration with it’s tones, it has a built in metronome for practice, the pads are low volume and the headphone output is easy to use, which makes the learning process fun and tolerable for neighbors and family members that would have to listen to you practice.

While the Alesis DM10 Electronic Drumset is a great option for beginners, it is an affordable alternative to some of the more expensive professional electronic drumsets, which is great for touring drummers that are looking for an electronic drum kit that delivers on tone and responsiveness, wants the mesh heads, but doesn’t want to break the bank.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the electronic Drumset come with everything you need to play?

You will need your own kick drum pedal, drumsticks, throne and either headphones or amp.  You will also need headphones that can plug into a 1/4″ jack.  Most headphone come with an adapter nowadays and if not it is a cheap accessory.

Does it come with a hi hat pedal?

Yes it does!

Before Alesis upgraded this electronic Drumset to have the mesh electronic drum heads, I would not have told anyone to purchase this electronic drum kit.  Now that they have the mesh heads, this electronic drum kit is a solid deal and a great price.  There have been some bad reviews of this electronic Drumset having some faulty wiring or of the old pads wearing out, but I have heard mostly great things about the new mesh heads.  For the price I think this is a very solid electronic Drumset for beginners or hobbyists.

While it is advertised for the studio professional, I would suggest some of the higher end kits for true professionals, especially if doing live performances with an electronic Drumset.  That said, it is solid and can get the job done for even a professional.
