Fender makes some of the best guitars, so let’s see how this model compares for best acoustic-electric guitars…

Fender Sonoran SCE Review

Acoustic-Electric Guitar Specifications:

  • Solid Spruce Top
  • Laminated Mahogany Back and Sides
  • Maple Neck
  • 20 fret rosewood fingerboard
  • Scalloped X Bracing
  • Rosewood with Compensated Bone Saddle
  • Fishman Isys III System
  • Active On-Board Pre-Amp and Tuner

This guitar is pretty cool.  The look with the acoustic body and the Stratocaster style neck and headstock is really something to behold.  It’s a cool look if not odd for some.

The body is an impressive solid spruce with laminate mahogany on a dreadnought body.  The 3-play pickgaurd is solid with the bone nut and bridge saddle and vintage style Fender bridge.

9.2 Expert Score

There is definitely a throw back, Southern California, surfer vibe about this guitar and it has a pretty authentic tone for that vibe.  The Rosewood fingerboard feels great to playing the Fishman Isys III pickups go nicely with the onboard preamp and tuner.
