When you are spending $300 on a guitar you want to look at quality best acoustic guitars.  While your not spending thousands of dollars on a vintage Les Paul, when you are spending a decent amount of money for musical instruments, even if it’s just a few hundred dollars, you want to get choose from high quality affordable best guitars and not just low quality cheap guitars.

There are a lot of options for pretty good quality guitars under $300, theres also a lot of low price cheap acoustics that are not easy to play and not worth the money.  Fear not, we narrowed down the absurd amount of acoustic guitars under $300 guitars, to the top choices of dreadnought guitars, classical guitars, acoustic electric guitars and more.

For acoustic guitars in the lower price ranges you will want to use our buying guide to find the best acoustic guitar whether it’s a beginners guitar or an every day guitar for the professional guitar player that wants to protect their more expensive stage guitar.

Sound Quality

There are many factors that go into how the tone of  acoustic guitars change from one guitar to the next. Depending on what size acoustic guitar you get, if it has a solid top, a spruce top, diecast tuners, a rosewood bridge, rosewood fingerboard, whether its a dreadnought acoustic or classical guitars; so many things affect the tone.

Ultimately we are judging them on our experience with them and how they sound to our ears.  We look at the quality of the build and hardware separately.

The Guitar Brand

Is It One Of The Best Guitar Brands In This Price Range?

There are some brands that really stand out in their ability to craft affordable guitars that any guitar player would agree are quality guitars despite being cheap guitars.

With Acoustic Guitars like the Epiphone dr100, Fender fa100, Gretsch G9500 Jim Dandy, Jasmine S34C, it is easy to see the brands that stand out.  Guitar brands like Epiphone, Fender, Gretsch and Jasmine have proven to know how to get the best tones and feels out of their affordable acoustic guitar lines.

For our buyer guide, we took a close look at the guitar brands that offer reputable and affordable guitars and weeded out the cheap guitars that would sound terrible and amount to throwing your money away.

The Build and Hardware

The Build and Hardware affect the sound and feel of acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, really all musical instruments.

Whether the acoustic guitars are made of mahogany, select spruce, laminate spruce, solid spruce, or spalted maple, the differences affect not only the sound and feel, but also the value. Different parts of the guitar can be made of different materials, like meranti sides and a solid spruce top on the guitalele in our Yamaha GL1 review.

Our assessment of acoustic guitars include everything from the body shapes, be it solid top dreadnought body or parlor size acoustic classical guitars, down to the bridges and truss rods. Be sure to consider your lifestyle so you get a model that best suits it. For example, if you travel frequently, you may want a slim-bodied model like the one in our Martin Backpacker review.

For acoustic electric guitars we take a close look at the electronics to make sure you are choosing from the very best acoustic guitars in the price ranges that work for you.

The Feel of the Guitar

The feel of the guitar describes how it feels to play the guitar.  We work hard to find quality guitars in all price ranges that are easy to play and will inspire your inner guitar player.  Especially if you are looking for a beginners guitar, you want to make sure that whatever sized guitar you get and whether you get a cheap acoustic bundle with gig bag or a nice maestro by Gibson, you want to be sure the acoustic guitar is easy to play so that you start playing and become the guitar player you were born to be.

Factors that affect the feel of the guitar can be as simple as whether it’s a rosewood fretboard or a mahogany fretboard, rosewood bridges or a solid spruce bridge.  The size of the guitar strings and quality of the build will affect the feel of the guitar.

A big part of what separates the high end guitars from cheap acoustic guitars, besides the expense of the wood and electronics, is how good the guitar feels to play.  Some guitars that are considered budget acoustics and even guitars for beginners can still have a great feel.

Before You Purchase

Be sure to use our buying guide for the top acoustics to make sure you aren’t wasting your time with cheap guitars that wont inspire you to play.  The acoustic guitars that made our list of top choices are both budget guitars and quality guitars at the same time.

Some of the guitars are even offered as acoustic guitar bundles and starter kits that in some cases offer everything from guitar straps, guitar strings and gig bags to effects pedals and guitar amplifiers.

Good deals are out there whether you are look for an affordable budget acoustic guitar or guitars for beginners, (including acoustic electric guitars) and we’ve made great efforts to find them for you!

Let’s pick a guitar so you can’t start playing asap!

Ibanez did a great job with this guitar.  For guitars under $300 this is one of the nicer ones with a solid mahogany body in the top, sides and back.  Paired with the rosewood bridge and fretboard, it’s just a nice guitar.
